As the world is thrown into a third world war, Chief Hospital Corpsman Mark Henderson is devastated to learn that his unit has been selected to deploy to Iran.

After receiving a near fatal wound on the battlefield, he and a Marine buddy of his, Sam Meyers, are sent back to the United States where they will soon find that the war has found its way near their home soil.

A high altitude nuclear detonation sends their plane falling from the sky over east Oregon, and after miraculously surviving the crash, they will also learn that mother nature can prove to be just as deadly as any war they have ever seen. They push their bodies to the limits to survive the cold wilderness and to find their way back to civilization.

After many days in the cold, nearing starvation and hypothermia, they find their way home; however, it's nothing like what any of them expected. The war has made its way along the US/Mexico border and they find themselves right back on the front lines of the war.
