Jessica Maison is an American science fiction and fantasy writer who has worked in youth program development and film. Her fiction explores a wide variety of themes, including family, survival, injustice, and the environment. She loves reading and getting inspired by folklore, mythology, fairytales, and good old fashioned ghost stories. She also writes and publishes comics. She began her writing career as a screenwriter and has directed a sci-fi film. She is a climate justice advocate who focuses on promoting green spaces and urban forestry, habitat restoration projects, school gardens, sustainability, and environmental education. She enjoys doing author talks and workshops in classrooms about writing and climate. She was born on a military base in Twenty-Nine Palms and grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan. She graduated from the University of Michigan and lives in Los Angeles with her two daughters, partner, and German Shephard mix.
